By Joe Fotalatee

Two Deputy Prime Ministers Canned
Amid protracted investigations fueled by a campaign to root out corruption, Vietnam fired two deputy prime ministers, the most senior officials to be relieved of their duties since 2017.

The National Assembly removed Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam from office after a four-day special session. The vote also resulted in the removal of Pham Binh Minh, who had served in the role since late 2013.

According to the news website VnExpress, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the National Assembly earlier today to dismiss Minh and Dam at their requests. The National Assembly tally shows 484 delegates cast ballots, 476 did so in favor of the dismissals, and three abstained.

Vietnam Oil Production Slowed
The government announced on Thursday that the largest oil refinery in Vietnam will experience a 20–25% drop in output during the first ten days of January due to the shutdown of its residual fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) unit.

The government announced in a statement that the RFCC unit at the 200,000 barrel-per-day Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical leaks.
Late last month, Reuters was the first to report on the shutdown.

To make up for the shortage and “ensure sufficient fuels for the local market until the end of the first quarter,” the Ministry of Industry and Trade has asked fuel dealers to increase their imports.

By Joe Fotalattee

The goals by 2025 include all significant river basins having integrated planning, and 95% to 100% of urban residents will be using clean water for daily needs, compared to 65% of rural residents.

The master plan for water supply, decision #1622/Q-TTg, ensures the security of the nation’s water sources and will sustainably manage and protect water resources. The government will address challenges to the water supply and create a humane balance between needs, socioeconomic development, and environmental protection.

Additionally, it aims to secure the national defense, improve water storage capacity in river basins, economic zones, and localities based on adaptation to climate change, and control the quality and reserves.

It aims to implement integrated water sector governance based on digital technology, manage resource cycles efficiently, and satisfy the needs of sustainable national development. By 2030, it intends to distribute water resources equitably and sensibly among different industries, communities, and water users per inter-provincial integrated planning.

There are now almost 30 data centers in Vietnam, 46% located in the north, 35% in the south, and 18% in the center.

According to reports from Nhan Dan, the Vietnamese data center market will increase at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 15% until 2026, from a 2020 value of USD 858 million.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Viettel introduced the Viettel Cloud ecosystem earlier in October, with 13 facilities and more than 9,000 racks, the largest data center infrastructure in Vietnam.

The VNG Company opened the VNG Data Centre, a brand-new data center of international caliber. The center will grow from its initial 410 server racks to 1,600 racks. With a $1.05 trillion investment, CMC Corporation opened a 1,200-rack, 13,000-square-meter data center in Ho Chi Minh City in August.

The Vietnamese data center market has experienced impressive growth due to the ability to deliver services up to international standards.
